CAMRIS Provides Key Technical Assistance to USAID/Mozambique HIV/AIDS Team

Through the Global Health Technical Assistance Project (GH Tech), CAMRIS has been providing key technical assistance to USAID/Mozambique’s HIV/AIDS team and helped to improve the capacity of local HIV prevention activities implementer, the Foundation for Community Development (FDC). Working with a prominent expert in HIV prevention, the team designed and presented technical workshops in the field and held trainings for local NGO staff that allowed the organization to complete a crucial programmatic evaluation on community-based prevention activities and messages aimed at reducing the practice of multiple and concurrent partnerships. The findings of the program evaluation were carried forward into a future directions design and used by USAID staff to make decisions on new procurement instruments, expand prospective prevention partners, and improve the overall prioritization of sexual transmission prevention among implementation partners. With the team’s knowledge of the Mozambican epidemiological context and expertise in designing, carrying out, and building local capacity in qualitative evaluation related to HIV/AIDS prevention a unique contribution was made that proved invaluable to furthering USAID’s activities in HIV/AIDS prevention. CAMRIS is one of three implementing partners on the GH Tech Project, a 5-year indefinite quantity contract mandated to support to the U.S. Agency for International Development’s (USAID) Bureau for Global Health offices, regional and other bureaus, and missions worldwide through flexible access to a range of technical and program management expertise. Since its inception in June 2006, GH Tech has managed more than 350 assignments in over 55 countries utilizing expert consultants and core program staff. GH Tech has earned a distinguished reputation among its USAID clients for flexibility, creativity, and consistent delivery of quality results within short deadlines.
